Ingredients

  • 2 ½ lbs chicken wings and drummettes
  • 3 Tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 Tbsp paprika
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Method

  1. Add all of the ingredients for the wings to a zip lock bag and seal it up. Shake it well until all of the chicken pieces are covered with oil and seasonings. The key here is to ensure every piece is well-coated, allowing the flavors to marry beautifully.
  2. Next, preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit for two minutes. Preheating is crucial as it helps the wings cook evenly and achieve that perfect crispiness.
  3. Once preheated, place the wings in the air fryer in a single layer. Make sure they aren’t touching each other. Proper spacing is essential for allowing hot air to circulate around each wing, which results in an even cook.
  4. Air fry the wings at 400 degrees for ten minutes. During this time, you'll start to notice the wings turning a beautiful golden brown. The aroma will also fill your kitchen, making it hard to resist.
  5. After the ten minutes are up, carefully flip the wings over using tongs. Air fry them again for another eight minutes or until the wings reach an internal temperature of at least 180 degrees Fahrenheit. This step ensures the wings are cooked through while also achieving that delightful crispiness on both sides.
  6. Repeat the process for any remaining wings, making sure to give them enough space during cooking. If you have a large batch, you might need to do this in two or more batches. It’s worth the extra effort for perfectly cooked wings.
  7. Once all the wings are done, let them rest for a couple of minutes to allow the juices to settle. Then serve them with your choice of ranch dressing, hot buffalo sauce, or blue cheese for dipping. Enjoy the crispy, flavorful results of your Air Fryer Chicken Wings!

Notes

  • Tip 1: Store leftover wings in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat them in the air fryer to retain their crispiness.
  • Tip 2: Yes, you can freeze cooked wings! Just let them cool completely and place them in a freezer-safe bag. They can last for up to three months.
  • Tip 3: If you love spicy food, add some cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the seasoning mix for a fiery kick.
  • Tip 4: For a sweet twist, mix honey with your sauce before serving. It creates a delicious glaze that balances the heat.
  • Tip 5: Serve your wings with sides like celery sticks, carrot sticks, or a fresh salad to balance the richness of the wings.
