Ingredients

  • 4 large whole-wheat flour tortillas
  • 1 cup boneless and skinless chicken breasts cooked and shredded
  • 1/2 avocado peeled, pit removed, and sliced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese fat-free, shredded
  • 1/4 cup cilantro fresh, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Frying Pan
  • Peeler
  • Chef's Knife

Method

  1. Start by preparing your workspace. Lay out the large whole-wheat flour tortillas on a flat surface. This will make it easier to fill and wrap them. Ensure you have all your ingredients ready to go.
  2. Next, divide the cooked and shredded chicken evenly among the four tortillas. Place the chicken in a line down the center of each tortilla, leaving about 1/2 inch on each side for folding.
  3. Now it’s time to add the fresh ingredients. Place slices of avocado over the chicken on each tortilla. You want just the right amount to ensure every bite is creamy and delicious.
  4. Top the avocado with cheddar cheese. Sprinkle about a quarter cup on each burrito for that melty goodness.
  5. Next, sprinkle chopped cilantro, cumin, and salt on top of the cheese. These will add layers of flavor that make your burrito sing!
  6. Now, carefully fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll it tightly to form a burrito shape. Make sure to tuck in the ends as you go to prevent any of the delicious fillings from escaping.
  7. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. You want the skillet hot enough that the burritos will sizzle once they hit the pan.
  8. Place the rolled burritos seam side down in the pan. Cook for about 5 minutes, until the bottom is golden brown. Keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t burn!
  9. Once the bottom is brown, it’s time to flip! Use tongs to carefully turn the burritos over and cook the other side for another 5 minutes or until golden brown. This adds a satisfying crunch and enhances the flavor.
  10. When both sides are perfectly cooked, remove the burritos from the skillet and let them cool slightly before cutting them in half. This will make them easier to eat and serve hot!
