Ingredients

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts boneless & skinless, the star of our show.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil This adds moisture and helps create a nice sear.
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt Enhances the chicken's flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper A touch of spice that balances the richness.
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese This gooey cheese melts beautifully.
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese Use real parmesan that melts well.
  • 1 cup marinara sauce A must-have for that tangy flavor.
  • 4 rolls kaiser rolls Opt for soft and chewy rolls.
  • 8 tablespoons butter Adds richness to the rolls.
  • 1 clove garlic To add a subtle garlic flavor to the rolls.

Equipment

  • Grater
  • Peeler
  • Chef's Knife

Method

  1. Preheat your outdoor grill to high. This is crucial for achieving that perfect grill mark and crispy exterior on your chicken breasts.
  2. Pound out the chicken breasts so they are of even thickness. This helps them cook uniformly.
  3. Rub the chicken with olive oil, garlic salt, and black pepper. This seasoning will enhance the flavor and create a lovely crust.
  4. Lightly grease the grill to prevent sticking. A well-greased surface will ensure your chicken comes off easily.
  5. Place the chicken breasts onto the hot grill. Reduce the heat to medium and cover. Cook for about five minutes.
  6. Remove the lid and flip the chicken breasts. Top each piece with two tablespoons of marinara, one slice of mozzarella cheese, and two tablespoons of parmesan cheese.
  7. Place the split kaiser rolls cut side down on the grill. Close the lid and cook for one to two minutes until they are golden brown.
  8. Remove the rolls from the grill. Spread one tablespoon of butter on each cut side and rub generously with the peeled garlic clove.
  9. Check the chicken after another three to five minutes or until it’s thoroughly cooked. The cheese should be melted and bubbly.
  10. Place the chicken between the garlic buttered buns, topping with more cheese, marinara, and optionally, some freshly torn basil. Serve immediately!
