Ingredients

  • 2 packages Puff Pastry 17.3 oz each, thawed
  • ½ jar Marinara Sauce 24 oz
  • 1 bag Frozen Popcorn Chicken 25.5 oz, thawed
  • 1 package Fresh Mozzarella Pearls 8 oz
  • ½ cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • to taste Garlic Powder
  • to taste Italian Seasoning
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 Tbsp Water
  • Fresh Basil

Equipment

  • Chef Knives
  • Cutting Board
  • Rimmed Baking Sheet

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400ºF. This ensures that the puff pastry will bake evenly and rise beautifully. A hot oven is essential for that perfect puff!
  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. This will prevent your puffs from sticking and make for easy cleanup. You want your puffs to slide right off!
  3. First, thaw the puff pastry sheets according to package directions. Once thawed, roll them out on a lightly floured surface to ensure they don’t stick.
  4. Cut each sheet of puff pastry into nine squares. This size is just right for filling and folding.
  5. Place the cut squares on the parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they have enough space to puff up.
  6. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce over each square of pastry. This sauce is the base flavor that will seep into the pastry as it bakes.
  7. Next, add a few pieces of frozen popcorn chicken on top of the sauce. This will be the hearty filling that makes each bite satisfying.
  8. Top with fresh mozzarella pearls and sprinkle generously with grated parmesan cheese. The cheese will melt beautifully and create gooey pockets of deliciousness.
  9. Sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasoning to enhance the flavors. A dash of seasoning goes a long way!
  10. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water. This will create an egg wash to brush on the edges of the pastry squares.
  11. Brush the edges of each pastry square with the egg wash. This helps seal the puffs and gives them a beautiful golden color when baked.
  12. Now, fold the pastry over the filling to create triangles or rectangles, pressing the edges to seal them well. You want to ensure no filling escapes during baking.
  13. Bake the puffs in the preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes until they are golden brown and puffed up nicely. Your kitchen will smell divine!
  14. Once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before garnishing with fresh basil or parsley.
