Ingredients
  

  • Pie crust for a 9-inch double-crust pie
  • 1 batch homemade cherry pie filling
  • 1 egg egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • granulated sugar or coarse sugar for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the bottom pie crust on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Add the homemade cherry pie filling to the crust.
  4. Roll out the top crust and place it over the filling.
  5. Trim the edges and crimp them to seal the pie.
  6. Cut slits into the top crust.
  7. Whisk together the egg and water and brush over the top crust.
  8. Sprinkle with sugar.
  9. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
  10. Let cool before serving.
