Ingredients

  • 3 cups graham cracker crumbs regular or chocolate
  • 1/2 cup salted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg white lightly beaten
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup salted butter melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 12-ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Whisk
  • Baking Sheet
  • Chef's Knife
  • Frying Pan

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line a 9×13-inch pan with aluminum foil. Spray it well with cooking spray to ensure nothing sticks.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, granulated sugar, and egg white. Mix until combined and press this mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. You want a nice even layer.
  3. Place the crust in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes. You'll know it’s ready when it’s set and lightly golden. Once done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, light corn syrup, and dark corn syrup until well combined. This mixture should be smooth and slightly thick.
  5. Now, add in the melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and salt. Whisk until everything is fully incorporated, and the mixture is glossy.
  6. Gently fold in the chopped walnuts, chopped pecans, and chocolate chips. This is where all the delicious flavors come together, creating a rich filling.
  7. Pour this luscious filling over the cooled crust, spreading it out evenly to cover every inch.
  8. Return the pan to the oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes. The filling should be set but still slightly soft in the center.
  9. When done, remove from the oven and let cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. This waiting period is tough, but it’s crucial for perfect bars!
