First, if your air fryer requires preheating, set it to 400°F. This temperature is perfect for achieving that crispy exterior.
Next, take your chicken thighs and pat them dry with paper towels. This will help the skin crisp up nicely once cooked.
In a large bowl, toss the chicken thighs with olive oil, minced garlic, sea salt, and cracked pepper. Ensure each piece is fully coated for maximum flavor.
In a separate bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, grated parmesan, and Italian seasoning. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the seasonings.
Now it’s time to coat the chicken. Take each thigh and dredge it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing it onto all sides so it sticks well.
Prepare the air fryer basket by spraying it lightly with cooking oil. Place the coated chicken thighs presentation side down in the basket for a beautiful finish.
Cook the thighs for about 12 minutes. This initial cook time will help them develop a nice crust.
After 12 minutes, flip each chicken thigh carefully using tongs. This helps achieve an even crisp on both sides.
Continue cooking for another 6 to 8 minutes. You'll know they are done when the internal temperature at the thickest part reaches 165°F.
Once they’re finished, carefully remove the chicken thighs from the air fryer and let them rest for about 5 minutes before serving. This resting time allows the juices to redistribute, making them even more succulent.
