  • Large Pot

Method

  1. Heat a large heavy-based saucepan over medium heat. Add the quinoa to the dry hot saucepan and toast until it becomes golden brown.
  2. Add the water, rice, and salt. Increase the temperature until the water is rapidly boiling.
  3. Cover the saucepan with a lid and immediately reduce the temperature to the lowest setting and cook for 15 minutes.
  4. Turn the heat off and leave for a few minutes. Remove the lid and fluff the quinoa rice with a fork.
  5. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Toast Your Quinoa: If you can spare a few minutes, toasting the quinoa gives it a lovely nutty flavor.
  • Change the Ratio: If you're new to quinoa, reduce the ratio to ¼ cup quinoa to 1 ¾ cups rice.
  • Make a Smaller Batch: To adjust for fewer servings, multiply the total volume of rice and quinoa by 1.5 to get the volume of water.
  • Extra Flavor: Substitute broth for water when cooking for added flavor.
  • Quinoa Choice: White quinoa works best for a milder flavor.
