  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and chopped into cubes 1 stick
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup packed fresh spinach, finely chopped
  • 6-8 chives, chopped (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and kosher salt.
  3. Add the butter to the flour mixture and mix until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
  4. Pour in the whole milk, followed by the chives, spinach, and cheddar cheese. Gently mix until just incorporated.
  5. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently press it into an 8 x 8 inch square.
  6. Cut the dough into 9 even squares.
  7. Place the scones onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and transfer to a wire cooling rack.
